Databases for knowledge
As dentists
in training we must understand that the work is not limited only to a clinical
chair and the patient. All our work must be supported by a broad theoretical
knowledge that allows us offer security and confidence. Habitually the
information in health (also in dentistry) change and updates constantly, so it
is necessary to have very good databases. For example, one of this database is
PubMed, this tool of search he specializes in health topic, contains many
information of varies sources and his use is simple, so that the information is
easily accessible and both expert and student can be informed in the same way.
Other
database that also highly used is SciELO, this database contain information of
various topic with the advantage that these are in Spanish (In PubMed the majority
of information this in English). SciELO don’t just manipulate themes of health,
if not also topics related with humanities, which makes it a database more
versatile but less exact. The latter does not diminish the importance of SciELO,
because these databases are useful for different areas of knowledge and depend
on what you want to deepen. For example, when I was a student of the "Programa
de Bachillerato" SciELO it was very useful but in PubMed dentistry it is
much more useful
